my eyes are so tired from reading endless lines of words from "Harper and Le Beau" with no obvious absorption of any meanings from each sentence. my speed of progressing is like spacecraft manoeuvrong towards pluto. i have a bad feeling about 221 essay.. *gasp* *choke* *kaaa kkkkaaa* *jaws drop* *arugggh..* *drop dead* *pom.......*

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

crisis! today is really not my day! my sis's friend gave her an O.P.I Nail Strengthener. she asked me to try it out too. i applied one layer and put the bottle aside to reply ah wei's msn msg. When i wana apply the other hand's nails, i got the shock of the day. the bottle spilled and my handphone was laying in the middle of a pool of nail polish! gosh. i panicked and picked up my handphone. i punched myself numerous times in my mind. how can this happened to me? i just told san that i was quite satisfied my u600. and this happened to my dear phone!! wth!! wiped the nail polish off the cell but there were still ugly patches. i sat down and brooded over it, then wei reminded me that i can try nail polish remover to get rid of the strains.. i was quite reluntant cos i was acared that the red coat came off instead. but what choice do i have? so gave it a shoot! lo. phew... they got offfff! thank goodnesss! i wana say again.. I LOVE MY PHONE! sorry for abusing you always! lunkily it was pink or black enamel (i cannot imagine!). now my 221 notebook is suffering the aftermath. hais.

Minds Day
I SAW UTT! Gosh! I was waiting for Denise and Esther near the south east line control station @ Dhoby Ghaut MRT station. He was one of the two guys standing there too. He caught my attention even in the simplest clothings. Seriously, how can he not? He is a head turner. haha. Okies I couldn't recognize him just found him very familiar. However, when I heard his accent I confirmed he is Utt. The typical Utt slang.. Lol. This two gals walked past him and walked back again. One of the gals was blushing lo!!

It was a fun day! The games! The nice food! And the free flow of drinks!! We spent $30.39 for 4 persons and close to 4 hours of gaming, with yummy cheese fritters and a plate of cheesy mushroom sandwhiches and fries! Happy hours for Minds is so worthwhile. I want to go back again! Lol.

Recommended games to play: Gift Trap and Ticket to Ride

Birthdays Celebration.

Jia Huan bluffed me down to tuition. I found it quite weird. The tuition center is already so crowded, how come not enough tutors. I thought they want to celebrate KP's or Mel's birthday. So, anything lo. Went down cos can eat cake. Lol. Who know, they were celebrating the February babies birthday too! Shuan said to me.. Mmm, thought our birthday long passed? Ya lo. It is a funny sight, I guess. Close to 10 persons squeezing around a cake, and a table full of gifts. Nonetheless, thanks guys for the celebration! =)

Huizhen, Ahju and Jiahuan are going to Taiwan for their grad trip! Jiahuan had this paper on Dynastic Travel's tour packages. Ahju and I discussed about the various packages. So I decided to rank the places I want to go in the future!

For future:
1) New Zealand
2) Kenya
3) Europe tour
4) Amazon
5) Nepal
6) Tibet
7) Egypt

Near future:
1) Hong Kong
2) Taiwan
3) Malaysia
(Believe it or not, I have never been there except Genting.)
4) Batam
5) Singapore

All the talk about heritage tourism, make me realize that I dont even understand Singapore well. How am I fit to travel and explore others' cultures? So I wana start a "Understanding My Very Own Sweet Home" Singapore tour during the 3 months break! Should we start with a Little India Tour?? Lunch @ the place Van mentioned and walk around before we go to try out the Banana Leaf that Esther reccomended? Lol. Hurraay~ I can't wait! CANT WAIT!!! I cant wait to try ThaiExpress. Denise described it until like it is beyond paradise. I love Chili with soup! YUMMMY! I wana meet my frens too!! Meet ah san go swimming?

Haha. Okies. Relax. I think my mind has generated thousands of things to do. But.. exams hasn't started yet. Too early man. 1 quiz, 1 assignment and 1 more essay coming up.. mmmmm....

Monday, March 17, 2008

Sorry.. =) A long post ahead.. Cos I decided to blog once a week only...

Monday processed smoothly! Managed to hand up 317 essay without crop up. Managed to smoke through 302 lecture without being invited by wuzhao to present the answers to homework 7 (cos we didn't have the time to complete it keke). Managed to scrape through 317 tutorial presentation!.. Suddenly there is a huge relief of tensions. Except, the OVE stuff is kinda handy. Can't wait for MINDS tomorrow, GIRLS! *excited*

Today is quite an forgetable day. Seriously. I think 5 years down the road. I might not forget what Prof Benjamin showed us today in lecture. We consume meat every day but have no idea how some of these animals suffer brutality and cruelty that'll be deemed to be inhumane to be performed on human being. Yet, they are enacted on these livestock whose whole lives are devoted to be our plates. Throats slashed while the animals were alive and conscious, castrated and feeling the whole process, head sliced off and skinned when the animal was not dead. My heart really goes out to them when they moaned in pain and fear. Their eyes reflect nothing but saddness and emptiness.

We thought that it isn't so hard for the workers to wait for these livestock to be at least unconscious before slaughtering in a more ethical way. However, that would be incurring additional costs and efficiency. After all, in today's world, profits are largely valued. Not all these farms are handling their animals this way, but I wonder, "maybe I am consuming meats handled by these farms." One of the video urging us to "Go Veg" something like: It takes a little man to treat the animal cruelly, and it takes a even little man to eat it. May be, I am that "little man".

Modernity... hais.

Only when the last tree has died and the last river been poisoned and the last fish been caught will we realize we cannot eat money. -Cree Indian Proverb

We do not inherit the earth from our ancestors, we borrow it from our children. -Native American Proverb (from: http://www.greenlivingonline.com/Energy/earth-day-quotes-2)

Could this be the only solution to the environmental crisis?

On a brighter note.. (blink blink)

Meet up with my ex-colleague, BoonWah last friday. He happened passed by NTU to meet his clients and decided to meet up. Kinda surprised and honored, I could say, that he arranged to meet up cos.. I wasn't really in his company (mine is a subsidiary of his). Nonetheless, enjoyed chatting with him. His thinkings are very.. profound. They make me realize some perspectives that are simple but tends to be forgotten. No wonder he can be a insurance agent! He told me about his NTU days. GOSH. He managed alot of activities sia!!! I wonder how can he managed! Super!! Guess what? He encourages me to join the Buddhist's society. He said they will have mediation sessions that are really relaxing. And.. I learnt that IT IS REALLY IMPT TO ENJOY YOUR WORK. Even since he has converted to it, I can tell that he is beaming non-stop, like the musical fountain! So I should strive to work and enjoy my work! Btw, TP is sold to Huangeng Group now. I wonder how are them coping with it.

Okies.. Gossip.. Gosssip. Don't know if you all have read this... Jolin and Jay were together! Jolin has confessed and talked about it. There was this article on Zao Bao about it. For those, who haven't read about it and understand Chinese, here is the article:

(click for larger view)

So he did row 2 boats at 1 time? So.. he did lie to Jolin? Now listen to Jay's songs.. Listening to his soppy songs are like propaganda about his ideas of love.

Someone used to ask me if I know what is the "love". I think we were fools at that time to think that Love can be defined and that we know its definition. I was reading through blogs during my "battle with 317" to destress. I realize there are many who are happy with their current love lives. There a few complaining. There are some yearning and mourning for that past love. A few are faced with troubled relationships.. While, one is still in hatred for the betrayal. So... what is love? There is no general answer to it, I guess.. Some said when you love someone, you will give all the happiness to the person (which is knda ethnocentric I think.) But there are some who think that if you really love the person, you must go for it till the end. And at different stage of the relationship, love becomes different too.. I dunnoo... I cannot conclude on it. But I just think that love is situational and depending on the background and personality of the other person. After all, 被爱是幸副的!是痛苦的!被不爱的人爱是恼人的!

Okies.. Some aesthetic stimulants (for me at least! lol)..

Molina @ Ice Pearl Creme! It's EUR 30.95... MMm.. When I strive lottery ba.

This is a real nice CK watch. You tied it rather than wear it like normal. So unique. This one.. I really understand what is Dream On! Cos it costs..$385!! *Gasp*

Forgot where I saw this. Sweet but sweeter for viewing than wearing.

I LOVE this.. I love bangles! But.. mmm. better save up for family dinner and baking, and a dramatic holiday!

Okies, Ending... Sorry for the drag.. My brother is going to China for 2 weeks and he get to see PANDA!!! Hope he will enjoy the trip and his girlfriend's companion. To everyone studying, it'll be over soon. To san who is not feeling well, GET WELL SOON my dear! Muacks!

Surprise: Belated Birthday gift from Shan and Dan
I was surprised when Dan (who came in late for Ling's lecture) presented the gift right in my face. Why? Firstly, although Shan told me about it, I've forgotten about it. The quiz and essay make my brain smaller at the moment. Secondly, the gift is bigger than usual ones. Plus, it was so nicely wrapped! Shan wrapped the gift while Dan went online to check out how to tie the ribbon. After class, when I was in the washroom, I left the gift on the shelf in the toilet. I overheard some girls commenting that the gift is very nicely wrapped. Lol.

Wrapping the gift...

It was a Musical Fairy Chest!

My sister said it is really sweet.. My mother was fascinated about it. When she saw it, she was playing around with the drawers, opening and closing them for about 5 minutes (which I find it weird cos she wasn't looking at the fairy inside but just obsessed with the drawers). My cousin kept tuning the fairy and make "her" spinning endlessly. I like to watch her dance too. However, I'm wondering what is she holding (apparently, she has in her hand something red). An apple? Ruby?? Or a distorted red cupcake???

Anyway, a huge THANK to Shan and Dan. Not to forget Peiting for her Green Mermaid Love Charm. Lol.

Strange Encounter:

Last Thursday, I finally went to the movie screening by Mirabelle. She was showing "Requiem for a Dream". It is quite a disturbing show, I could say. On my bus journey, I took out a book I borrowed for HS317 essay. I was trying to read but my mind was difting to that movie. I was so deep in my thought, suddenly I heard someone saying "Yo, what's up?" in a super hip hop accent. And it was coming from the person besides me. I was stunned and wondered if it was my imagination. I turned, trying to close my jaw, but my eyes widened with surprises.

Okies, sitting besides me wasn't a transient worker but a Black. He didn't look like the American Black, rather more like an African Black. So so.. I bet he could tell my shock cos he said, "I mean, what is it that you are reading? Can you show me?"

"Ya, sure", I said as I passed him the book. I thought that he could pass the book back to me after 30 seconds. Instead, he read about 3 pages before he continued the conversation. He said he was attracted by the tile of the book as there was the word "Psychology": The title of the book is "Psychology of Tourism". He asked... "So you are a Social Science student?"

"Ya, I am."

"Oh, so you are doing a degree in Social Science now??"

"Ya, I am doing a degree in Social Science. In fact, I am doing a degree in Sociology."
"Oh, Sociology." He gave a nod and continue with the book.

"How about you? You are doing Psychology?"

"Ya, I did a degree in Psychology. That's why when I saw the word, Psychology, I bah bah bah.. (didn't catch what he was saying)." He went on to flip the book again. "Your degree is a 3-year program?"

"Nope, it is 4 years. Cos we are doing a direct honors."

"Oh. Cos in my country, a degree is 3 year."

"Oic. So where are you from?"

"I am from South Africa."

Ah Hem.. I gave myself a mental pat on my shoulder. Keke. "Oic"

After awhile, he said, "so you are in NUS?"

"No no.. I'm in NTU."

He gave me this blur expression so I went on to elaborate. "National Technological University", I said. In my mind, I found my reply abit out of place. I dunno why. After 3 seconds, I realized... "No no.. I mean Nanyang Technological University!" I wanted to bang my head on the glass window.. How can i mix up my school full name?

There was some super small talk and he went back to the book. He seemed to like the book so much. I was kinda guilty to ask for the book back when I had to alight. It is comforting to see that some Africans are alleviated from poverty and get a chance at education. Though, there are chances that he's from some aristocratic background, let's assume there are some improvements in closing the gap between the rich and poor ba. At least, we will feel hopeful amidst worries over food shortages, ecological crisis, raising prices...

My first:

Saturday, 8th March 2008. My first encounter with suicide. Not me (of course! haha.).. But someone committed suicide at my block. My mum said he was from else where and came here to leave the earthly world. Apparently, he jumped at 5+pm. I did heard a bang and some screams but I didn't pay much attention to them (cos it was quite a noisy neighbor at Saturday with kids running around). 6+, my mum told me some one was sleeping on the ground and the police was here. I looked at her and smiled politely, thinking "mmm, what is so interesting about some one sleeping on the ground?" At 8pm, I went down to help my sis get some lotion. My mum advised me not to take the elevator. Since she said so then I obeyed lo. When I was downstair.. I saw policemen sia. When I reached home, I decided to gossip with my mum.

Gosh.. There was really a man "sleeping" on the ground near the lift. Dead. I rushed out to the corridor and took a peek. The corpse was covered with black plastic bag and a tent. If I went out and check it upon hearing the scream, I could really see corpse and a pool of blood. My mum saw the scene. Lucky, it was quite "clean", unlike the super gross accounts I heard. Quite sad though it occurred to a stranger.

We speculated the cause of his jump. My mum believed that he was ill. I was joking with my mum that if I had illness, I will jump too. Why go and spend so much money to suffer. Mum suddenly turned serious and commented that it took alot of courage to jump too. If got illness, stay positive and cure it la. If you are positive, cancer oso can be cured. What for go and jump? I was impressed. Didn't know my mum can be so positive. Look like I don't know my mum very well huh. Lol.

@ home:

Things are getting very HIGH at home.

1) Better than Leap Years.
The crying one day, the sweet talking next day. Dun get what is going on but it is pretty entertaining. =P Today's sweet talk: "Okie okie, I love you too much to say no!" Gosh. That sent twinkle tickle down my spine. We were stuffing our laughters. It is seldom to hear some mushy expression of love in such gentle and cute voice @ home. For those who don't know what is going on, it is a secret!

2) My sista is LOL hilarious!
She went to minitoon to get those massager thingy to ease her poof back after sitting in the office for a whole day. Guess what? She brought 5 of them.. Because... there's a sale. BUY 4 GET 1 FREE! So when she reached home, she was distributing them. I wanted to scold her for wasting money but couldn't help laughing out loud. Cos the adults presented were hammering their backs with it. It is a funny sight to see turtle, octopus, mahjong tile and mushroom hammering the backs of serious adults!
My share: The "mushroom hammer"

3) The fooooood.
I am spoilt! My parents brought watermelons cos I love them! I have been eating watermelon for a week. From yellow to red flesh. Chocochip, Bubble tea! Even my grandma brought us nice and juicy grapes!!! Touched but.. I am growing fats! Keke. Because of all these, I couldn't bring my lib to mug in the lib!! I would miss home whenever I was out! Ilovestaying @home.

Interesting:

To end my post this week, I should say that I am impress with the creativity of many these days. After Mas Selamat escaped, a "poster" was circulated around net. Another exciting season of Prison Break? In case, those haven't seen it. Here is it:

One day, I was browsing YouTube and I chanced upon this video. More escapes apparently. Looks like Michael Scofield had inspired many including animals.

Impresario 2008

As YS is in the organizing committee of Impresario 2008, we decided to show our supports by attending the event @ Mediacorp Studio!! It is sad that San (tied down by NATAS Fair) and Seow (tied down by exams) couldn't make it. =( Nonetheless, here is a brief entry on the day. And, I dedicate this post to both San and Seow.

Here we have been to the Caldecott Hill! Where are the Caldecott Kings and Queens?? I was looking out for celebrities, but sadly I saw none.

Satellite!

Our tickets!!!

Queuing to get in..

But let's take a picture first!

Ah San called us while we were in the queue!! We miss ya! Look at Ivan, San.. He looked so happy chatting with ya on the phone!!!

Okies. Ready? We are going in!

Our goodies bags. The goodies bags are quite attractive. They gave us discount vouchers for hair treatment, eye brow trimming and a few Music Clinic and song writing brochures and vouchers. There are coffee, video gaming magazine and Style magazine.

The calm before the storm. This is the stage before all the actions.

Ivan flipping through the program booklet. Ys, it is quite well done. No worries! As I said, everything is good about the booklet, except you should use updated photos of the contestants. We had a hard time guessing who was who. =p

Kai and me.

We had nothing to do while waiting for the show to start so we started taking multiple shots of silly faces.

This is our favorite picture of the day: Eat, chew ad gone!

The stage all lighted up!

GOod Bye to Mediacorp and a enjoyable night!

It was a slow start. Initially, we weren't enjoying ourselves. Cos we didn't really get what the Jam Bands were singing. Things got better. When the dance segment began, we all got so high!

Lee Teng was the surprise guest host. He was so HILARIOUS!! Gosh. I laughed until Ivan kinda suffered (cos I was hitting him). Lol. Kelly Poon performed for us. Kai and Ivan were saying "Don't tell me she is going to sing Shakalaka Baby." 3 seconds later, Kelly announced that she was going to sing .... "SHAKALAKA BABY!" The three of us really LOLed!!! Yeah Laughed out REAL LOUD! Oh ya. Apparently, Kelly joined Impresario before. And she got to know Lee Teng, who was a background crew at that time.

The solo contestant competition was interesting. The Male soloist competition, in particular, was ultra competitive. One of the male contestant imitated Jay Chou singing 最長的電影. Wow. A good job sia! He really sounded like 杰倫. And what's more I think
最長的電影 is hard to grasp. Another imitated 费玉清. No kidding sia!! He did such a fantastic job that if you close your eyes, you will really think it is 费玉清 singing to ya! Salute to him man!

I have to say the organizing committee did a good job. It was a time well spent. Although I was worried about my Statistics quiz on Monday, I truly enjoyed the singings, dancing and phototaking. Haha. Thanks for inviting us, YS. And upgrading our seat to the premium ones! We managed to catch all the actions!

We headed to Clementi for a late dinner. When we walked past MacDonald's, there were notices that they ae demolishing the place. Hais. I couldn't believe myself when the manager told me a few days ago when we were dinning there. Now.. seeing is believing really. So sad. The place where we celebrated San's birthday, where the three of us often chilled and chatted over fries, where we (choonmei, shuting and me) often went there for lunch after school before we headed to Big Bookshop. Now is it gone. =( Good bye to our place ....

Anyway, gals and guys! I miss you all already! Jia you to all ya! San san, cheers ya.. Hope you find the greener pasture soon! Kai kai, enjoy yourself with the kids ya. Update us if Hugo da pian le ma! Keke. Ivan, YS and Seow, jia you for the exams!! We should all meet out sooooooon. After the torturing exams ya!! Will miss you all!!

✿ our leap year ✿

@ Pasta De Waraku

Food is nice. The pasta and baked rice are drooling yum yummmm. However, the portion is small especially for the baked rice. At least for $10+, the portion shouldn't be that small, I feel. The deserts are heavenly too. I finished my Oreo Softee alone! Love the cereal at the bottom mixed with chocolate syrup and melted ice cream.. Ah Ju's tiramisu sundae is a letdown I have to say (sorry ah ju!). That piece of tiramisu looked enticing but nothing much. But pretty invonative. This is the first time I come across sundae with a piece of cake on the top!

Introducing the Leap Year Seven ( named by ah ju ).
From left to right: Kelly, Sherlyn, Me, Ah Ju, Ronald.
Absent: Long Qing and Ian.

Sherlyn and Kelly came down from Natas fair. They said there are real great deal.. In fact, Sherlyn got a free luggage and alot of perfumes! And and.. they are going to TAIWAN for their grad trip! I envy them! =p
